College students interested in business journalism have a few funding avenues they can explore at these universities.

* Medill School at Northwestern University

What: The Medill School at Northwestern Bloomberg scholarships

Who's eligible:Students accepted into its five-quarter graduate (MSJ) business journalism program in conjunction with the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern.

Amount: $15,000

* Baruch College, City University of New York

What: Institutional Investor scholarship

Who's eligible: Undergraduate juniors who have declared a major in journalism.

Amount: $1,500 each, awarded to four students

What: Eric Kobren Fellowships

Eligibility: Students in the undergraduate business journalism program.

What: Manulife Financial Scholarship in Business Journalism

For: Undergraduate or graduate students specializing in business journalism. Students are chosen based on the recommendation of department's director.

* Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program

What: Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program

Who's eligible: Residents of World Bank member countries who undertake graduate studies at universities not in their own countries. They must be admitted to the program, be between the ages of 25 and 45 and have at least two years of full-time professional experience.(Often used for the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism Knight-Bagehot Fellowship Program in Economics and Business Journalism, more information on that in Academic Programs and Fellowships)

Amount: Dollar amount has varied from $18,000 to more than $57,000.

* New York Financial Writers Association

What: New York Financial Writers Association Scholarship

Who's eligible: Undergraduate or graduate journalism students in the Metropolitan New York area who are seriously interested in pursuing a career in business and financial journalism.

* University of Alabama

What: Mobile Register Endowed Business Journalism Scholarship/Fellowship

Who's eligible: An outstanding junior or rising junior who has declared a major in journalism and an approved minor in commerce and business administration. Applicants should plan to pursue a career in business journalism.

Amount: $1,500

* University of Maryland at College Park

What: UCG Business Journalism Fellowship

Who's eligible: Students accepted into the public-affairs reporting track of the Maryland journalism master's program.

Amount: The 15-month fellowship includes a paid summer internship at UCG, 36 credits of tuition remission and a stipend of approximately $20,000 spread over the next three semesters of coursework.

What: South Asian Journalists Assocation-Knowledge@Wharton Scholarhip

Who's eligible: Members of SAJA, AAJA, NABJ, NAHJ or NAJA who is a reporter, editor, producer or freelancer and lives in the United States or Canada. Candidates must work in business, healthcare or technology journalism.

Amount: Approximately $1,995 to cover tuition, course materials and most meals for the seminar.
