A single-day workshop on on-air broadcasting skills, sponsored by the Donald W. Reynolds National Center for Business Journalism, will be held at The Sun in Baltimore, 501 N. Calvert St., on Saturday, April 26. It is open to the first 25 journalists who sign up.

The workshop will give tips on the basics of being an interview subject and also a reporter before the camera. It will include hands-on on-air training through the use of video cameras. To qualify for this workshop, participants must be registered for the SABEW annual conference that begins the following day.

Primary trainer Teri Goudie, of Goudie Media Services, is an international media consultant and former ABC News journalist who trains both CEOs and news reporters in effective on-air presentation. She stresses the importance of connecting to the audience on-camera, crystallizing your story and personalizing even the most complicated financial information. Also involved in the training are Jodi Schneider, economics editor for Congressional Quarterly, who regularly appears on national television programs; Steve Sullivan, assistant managing editor/multimedia for The Sun; and Andrew, Leckey, director of the Reynolds Center and former CNBC anchor.
