WELCOME TO OUR FREE ONE-DAY BUSINESS JOURNALISM WORKSHOP
A free one-day business journalism workshop will be held on Friday, March 28, 2008 in Vancouver, Wash. It is open not only to business journalists, but to journalists covering other beats who wish to learn more about business.
The "Covering Private Companies and Non-Profits" program covers critical areas such as regulatory filings, financial disclosure and gaining insight into how effectively companies and organizations are being run.
Presenters will be Chris Roush, associate business journalism professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Curt Hazlett, a longtime business journalist.
This workshop is sponsored by the Donald W. Reynolds National Center for Business Journalism and hosted by The Columbian. The workshop will be held at 415 W. 6th St., Vancouver, WA 98666.
Registration for the workshop is available by clicking here. We also encourage you to learn more about the Reynolds Center, its various programs and business coverage through this site that is updated daily. For further questions, contact Senior Program Coordinator Jackie Sponberg at 480.727.9189.
"More than 6,000 journalists nationwide have attended Reynolds Center workshops, all seeking to improve their skills," said Andrew Leckey, director of the Reynolds Center. "With private companies and non-profits often overlooked in coverage despite their importance in our communities and economy, journalists must learn how to track them effectively."
The Reynolds Center is funded by a grant from the Las Vegas, Nevada-based Donald W. Reynolds Foundation.
Please do not register unless you are sincere about attending and have been given authorization by your editor to do so. Since our workshops are often oversubscribed, no-shows keep other potential registrants from attending and waste food purchased for morning and lunch meals. Registration will close at noon on ONE WEEK PRIOR.
