Welcome to Our Free One-Day Business Journalism Workshop

A free one-day business journalism workshop on "Advanced Business Writing" will be held on Friday, Oct. 12, 2007 in Orlando. It is open to working journalists who wish to improve their writing skills in the field of business.

Presenters include Dick Weiss, former writing coach and assistant metropolitan editor of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch; and Jodi Schneider, former business editor at the Orlando Sentinel and The Washington Post and currently economics editor at Congressional Quarterly.

This workshop is sponsored by the Donald W. Reynolds National Center for Business Journalism and hosted by the Orlando Sentinel. The workshop will be held at the Orlando Sentinel, 633 N. Orange Avenue, Orlando, FL 32801. The room will be located in the building's Conference Center.

"More than 5,000 journalists nationwide have attended Reynolds Center workshops, all seeking to improve their skills," said Andrew Leckey, director of the Reynolds Center. "In our evaluations we found strong interest in a program that focused specifically on writing about business."

The Reynolds Center is funded by a grant from the Las Vegas, Nevada-based Donald W. Reynolds Foundation.

At this workshop, the presenters will hold 15-20 minute one-on-one sessions with participants about their stories. These sessions will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please e-mail the stories you would like to go over to weisswrite@gmail.com.

Please do not register unless you are sincere about attending and have been given authorization by your editor to do so. Since our workshops are often oversubscribed, no-shows keep other potential registrants from attending and waste food purchased for morning and lunch meals. Registration will close at noon on Oct. 5, 2007.
